PW1762 - Small Early Pancake Body Upper Chesapeake Bay Canvasback
This wonderful small Canvasback Duck Decoy was found by a New York Collector in 1969. When I purchased it he sent me this note: "in 1969 when I returned from the Coast Guard from Yorktown VA I traveled up the Chesapeake Bay. I purchased it then and the antique dealer who sold it to me was a hunter who told me it was from Ben Dyes rig".
You be the judge as to who carved it. It has been in my collection for the past 10 years and I have loved it!! It has nails stabalizing the neck crack as well as all of the marks, cracks and overpaint that an old early Upper Bay decoy should have.
